Privacy policy — ProteoCast for FlyBase

ProteoCast for FlyBase is a browser extension that shows ProteoCast missense-variant predictions on FlyBase (flybase.org) report pages. It does not collect, store or share any personal data.

What the extension reads

Only on flybase.org pages: the FlyBase identifier in the page address (FBpp, FBgn or FBal) and, on allele pages, the associated gene and the amino-acid replacement shown in the report. It does not read other websites, form contents, or your browsing history.

What it sends, and to whom

To display the panel, it requests public data, identified only by a FlyBase ID:

• from FlyBase's public API (api.flybase.org): the protein sequence, protein domains and a gene's isoforms;
• from the ProteoCast server (proteocast.ijm.fr, hosted by the Institut Jacques Monod, Paris): the predictions for that protein.

As with any web request, these servers receive your IP address and browser information in their standard access logs. The extension adds no identifiers, cookies or tracking of its own, and sends nothing else.

What it stores

One setting (the prediction-server address), saved in your browser's extension storage (synchronised by your browser if you use browser sync). Nothing is stored on any server by the extension.

No analytics, no advertising, no sale of data

The extension contains no analytics or advertising code, and no data is sold or transferred to third parties.
